Prof. Patrick Tan is Senior Vice Dean (Research) at Duke-NUS Medical School Singapore and Executive Director of PRECISE (Precision Health Research Singapore) coordinating Singapore’s National Precision Medicine program. He is also Chief Scientific Officer at the Genome Institute of Singapore, Senior Scientific Advisor (Group Research) at SingHealth and Professor (adjunct) at Duke University, USA. In 2018, he received the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Team Science Award as Team Leader. He is an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI) and the Association of American Physicians (AAP), the Bioethics Advisory Committee (BAC), a Board Member of the International Gastric Cancer Association, Board of Editors for Science and Cancer Discovery, and on advisory committees for Qatar Precision Health Institute, and Riyadh Biotech City (Saudi Arabia).

He has extensive regulatory, management and operational experience in both the public healthcare and private pharmaceutical sectors in the past 25 years, contributing to the advancing developments of the healthcare landscape.

Previously, he led all IBM Research’s Global Laboratories, including Australia, Africa, China, India, Japan, Singapore and South America. Earlier, he led Personal Systems and Advanced Systems Research at IBM TJ Watson Research Center, and headed the IBM Almaden Research Center, Silicon Valley. Concurrently, he chaired the Bay Area Science and Innovation Consortium consisting of all Universities and Research Labs in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Rupa is an experienced editor and scientist working across a broad range of subject areas. She has delivered seminars at over 30 conferences in the USA, China, Singapore, India, Europe, and UK. Her interests span all interdisciplinary areas of digital health, with a particular interest in genomics and AI in clinical applications. Rupa obtained her Ph.D. in embryonic stem cell development from Imperial College London, U.K. After her postdoctoral research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NY, USA, Rupa joined the Nature Research Group. Prior to her appointment at The Lancet Digital Health, Rupa was the Chief Editor of Nature Protocols.
